Students will learn about wood turning and how it is used in our lives. Starting with making personalized mallets to fit our grip, students will learn the variations between beads, coves, and flats—giving them the basics which they can use in many combinations to create their individual style in their work.  Students will create their own stool and learn to make wedged, mortise and tenon joints for attaching the legs, creating a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture. Students will have the opportunity to discuss and make their own small projects. Painting, stenciling, masking and layering, and distressed sanding will be covered.
