Introduction to Building Furniture! - June 22-26
Come join in on a fun week of exploring ideas of assemblage; thinking and talking about how things are made. Design and build your own piece of furniture using glue and clamps, dowel rods and wooden slats. Learn lots of fun facts about trees and the role they plan in your environment.

John C. Campbell Folk School
Little Folk School June 16-22
This will be a fun week of exploring ideas of assemblage; thinking and talking about how things are made. With glue and clamps, we will design and build our own piece of furniture.

Penland Kids Camp
Intro to Wood Turning - July 1-5
In this class we'll learn the fundamentals of woodturning: creating mallets, learning the basic shapes, and building small projects in preparation for designing and creating legs for a stool, which will include learning how to make a wedged mortis-and-tenon joint.
Let's Make Furniture - July 22-26
Join us for a fun week of exploring and talking about how things are made. Campers will create their own piece of furniture - a bench, chair or table - from dowel rods and wooden slats, adding a unique finishing touch with paint. Campers will also learn fun facts about trees and the role of trees in our environment.

In this class, we will learn the fundamentals of woodturning by creating mallets to learn basic shapes. Each camper will get to design their own project and practice turning legs, including wedging through mortise & tenon joints to make their very own stool.
